Australia Day

Australia Day is celebrated on 26 January 2018. Australia Day is the country’s official national day. It commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet of British ships in 1788

– 11 ships with convicts, civil officers and crew that had set sail from England some 8 months previously. The public holiday is marked with celebrations held across the country, including the ‘Australian of the Year’ awards and an address by the Governor-General.
